Outstanding Performances at Zama Invitational
|
|
Comparing Sept 29 2007 and Sept 20 2008, only a few improved their time. It was a tough course due to water and humidity.
Boys winner Andrew Quallio was 51 seconds slower in defending his title (his time is 2:37 slower than his Pacific-leading 5000m time set last week). Kento Nakamura (16th), Chris Cournoyer (19th) and Chris Vander Haak (22nd) were the highest placing boys who improved over last year.
Girls winner was 2 minutes slower than last year`s winner. In the top 25, champion Marisa Foxwell came closest to her 2007 time (57 seconds slower), but was still 1:50 off her 2008 season best 5k.
The course`s difficulty evident in the runners who did not finish the race or had to be attended to by paramedics.
