K.L.A.A. Cross Country Invitational 2010
HOST: Salem Boys & Girls Cross Country Teams.
SITE & DATE: Willow MetroPark – Chestnut Picnic Area. September 11, 2010. Take 275 South to Exit 11A (Huron St). Follow back over the freeway (East) until the road dead ends into Willow Metropark. Turn right (South) and go approximately 2 miles to Chestnut picnic area.
FYI - MAJOR CONSTRUCTION AT 94 & 275. EXPECT AND PREPARE FOR DELAYS!
ENTRY FEE: The fee will be $170 for both a boys and girls team or $90 for one. Incomplete teams will be charged $15 per athlete. Eligibility lists will be needed for all teams entered. Please make entry fee checks payable to Salem Cross Country. Varsity “A” Varsity “B” teams will be permitted in varsity race for a total of 14 runners per school in the varsity race. Online athlete entry at ATHLETIC.NET for 2010. Team scores will be computed for the Varsity and Reserve races. Team entry limited to the KLAA teams.
EXTRAS: T-shirts and concessions will be on sale throughout the day.
RACE TIMES: 2010 TIME SCHEDULE
VARSITY Boys = 9:45am VARSITY Girls = 10:20am
RESERVE Junior Varsity Boys = 11:00am RESERVE Junior Varsity Girls = 11:35am
EACH TEAM MAY HAVE 14 RUNNERS BROKEN UP INTO “A” & “B” IN THE VARSITY RACE. ONLY ONE TEAM CONSISTING OF YOUR TOP 7 FINISHERS SCORE FOR YOUR SCHOOL.
NUMBERS: Please make sure that all varsity and reserve competitors have a number pinned to the front of their jersey. These will be used for scoring purposes. All athletes entered in ATHLETIC.NET will be issued a number. Athletes that do not have a number will not be permitted to compete in the race. The card system will be used as a backup and needs to be turned into the scoring table after the race in the envelope provided.
AWARDS: Top two teams receive trophies. Top twenty one runners in the varsity race will receive medals.
Winning team will receive seven medals.
Approximate times for awards:
Varsity Boys All Divisions: 12:15pm Varsity Boys All Divisions: 12:25pm
Varsity Race Awards: 1-7=First Team, 8-14=Second Team, 15-21=Third Team
Top two male teams and top two female teams will each receive team trophies
RESULTS: We hope to have the results copied and one copy supplied to each coach before they leave. We will be using the Hi-Tek cross country scoring system with the normal chute card system backup. Please turn your athletes finish cards into the trailer immediately following the race in the envelope provided. Results will be posted at the trailer and at www.RunMichigan.com & www.salemcrosscountry.org
COURSE Each coach is in charge of getting their own team members’ mile and two mile split if needed.
& SPLITS: There will be an individual reading those times aloud. Finish times and place will be recorded and listed on the final results. The course is flat and fast with a few dips and one major hill that the athletes run twice. Many smooth turns. Crosses paved roads five times. Entire course marked with solid white line.
NOTES & FINAL There will be a park admission fee of $4 for all vehicles. School buses and team vans carrying athletes
INSTRUCTIONS: will be admitted to the park free of charge. Please pick up all trash before you leave. Fill out and return blank envelope so results can be mailed. Athletes Not on Eligibility list will NOT be permitted to compete. Please inform all spectators that we would appreciate no dogs and no smoking at this high school event. Please report to the starting line 10 - 15 minutes before the start of your race. Due to the large number of athletes we need all finishers to jog through and stay in the appropriate chute. Please give finish cards to your coach. MHSAA uniform codes and rules will be strictly enforced.

This meet is using free online registration at Athletic.net!
Athletic.net is a resource for Track & Field and Cross Country coaches, offering free statistic tracking, easy meet registrations, free meet managers, and free tools to simplify coaching tasks. Follow the 4 steps below to get started:
1. Locate your school and sign up for a free coach account
(if you do not have one)

Go to the website: www.athletic.net

Click on your level under "Cross Country"

Click on your state, and then your school

Once on your school's page, click the "Sign Up Here" link and follow the instructions

After receiving the confirmation email, continue with these instructions
2. Add meets to your season calendar

Use your email address and password to sign into the website, and click on your school's name in the left navigation bar

Click "Edit Calendar" in the Coach Tools bar at the top of your school home page

Where it says "Meet ID:" enter 31638 and click Add

Review the information and click Save and Continue >

You may need to click Save and Continue > again

Repeat this process for the rest of your season calendar (You can also add meets by date, if you don't know the Meet ID)

Verify on the "Edit Calendar" page that your calendar is correct. Use the Edit button next to the meet to make corrections.
3. Enter team roster

Click “Edit Athletes” on the Coaches Toolbar, on your school's page

Add athletes to the roster manually, or upload your roster using the "Upload Athlete Roster" option
4. Register athletes for the K.L.A.A. Association Invitational

Locate K.L.A.A. Association Invitationalon your school's main cross country page and click on it

On the right under Team Tools, click Register Athletes.

Click Increment Divisions to quickly register all your athletes in the first race division,

or manually select the race division for each athlete

Use the boxes on the bottom of the page to add additional athletes to your roster
You can use the meet registration feature of Athletic.net for all your meets. You can print out and fax the entries, or the host team can download them from the website, all for free.
