The Bandon XC Invitational will be held at Bullards Beach State Park, just off of Highway 101, north of Bandon, OR. Our course will open at 2:00 p.m. No one will be allowed on the trails of the course after 3:30 so get there early.
We plan on having four races: 3000M Girls Middle School (3:30), 3000M Boys Middle School (4:00), 5000M Girl’s Varsity (4:35), 5000 M Boys Varsity (5:10). The races will be varsity/junior varsity combined so enter all of your athletes in their respective race.. The top seven for each school will factor into the scoring, as usual. Team plaques will be awarded following the last race to the top 2 teams in each race. Top 5 finishers in each high school race will receive medals. Others will receive a finisher's ribbon.
The course has changed between miles 1 and 2. Maps will be mailed out and will be available in your race packet. At different times during the course runners will be on grass or on a short chip trail, woodland trails, on sand dunes, the beach, and some horse trails. It is an all terrain course, so come prepared for everything! We suggest your athletes come already dressed in uniform for the race. There are restrooms at the day use area of Bullards Park, but no showers. There is no public swimming in the river, it is dangerous, and we ask that you keep your athletes out of the water and off the road as much as possible.
Please enter the names of all athletes who may enter this meet on athletic.net by Friday, September 17th. We are using Excel Meet manager and entering athlete names into our computer prior to the race will make it easier for us to prepare race numbers prior to the event and get results out faster after the race. You may, of course, add or delete athletes the day of the meet. If you need more information you may contact me at the addresses below. Good luck and we’ll see you on September 21st.
Extra maps and information will be in your packet at the gazebo near the start/finish area across from the boat ramp. Runner Tags will be included in your packet also. Please make sure runners have this pinned to the front of their shirt. You may add runners on race day but please do so as soon as you arrive at the gazebo and find the scorer and their computer.
Please park busses in/near the boat ramp area at Bullards Beach State Park. Remind your runners to be cautious on the road. The road and pathways are open to the public so try not to run over anyone.
