9/03/2013 THE GIRLS TEAM WILL NOT BE RUNNING IN THE 29TH ANNUAL CHESANING INVITATIONAL. THEY WILL BE RUNNING IN ALL THE OTHER REMAINING LISTED MEETS!!!

10-14-2012   WWWOOOOWWWW*** is a perfect description of how well our girls ran yesterday-at goodrich. they did an absolutely outstanding job. addie won her fifth meet of the year, six girls ran the best times of their careers (also, amanda and madison b. both missed a career best time by less than two seconds) and two others ran their best times of the season. another word i can think of to describe that is ***FANTASTIC***. the girls did not let the weather get to them and that would have been easy to do. while the weather may not have been the best for spectators and coaches, it definitely was good weather for our girls to race in. it is always great to run career best times but as a coach, i always look at two main points. i look at how well did they race and most importantly how did they do agai...

nst runners who normally beat them. first, our girls were constantly racing well against other runners from start to finish. secondly, madison b., lexie(first time under 21 minutes), madison s., madeline and olivia(first time under 22 minutes) beat girls that they had not been close to all season and that tells me that they did have a truly exceptional day of racing which is what any coach is wanting this late into the season. they did not post jv results so i dont know how they did against other runners but i would guess they did just as well based on their times.

as usual, we have video of the race. that noise you year in the background is raindrops falling on coach fuller's umbrella as he filmed the meet. here is the link:

9-20-2012

our girls did an outstanding job of racing tonight. we had 4 girls earn medals out of the 12 medals given in our division. ella earned a medal in the jv race as well. we also earned the first place trophy by ONE POINT because all of our girls raced to the finish line. the boys and girls teams combined to win the overall championship trophy as well. all in all, a good day for flushing cross country.

our girls are getting fired up as the important meets of the season begin. we have the jamboree which we are hosting this coming tuesday at the cummings center. mr. fuller and i will be setting up the course, painting it, and flagging it. actually mr. fuller will be doing most of the work and i (along with a couple of other volunteers) will be there to assist him. i hope everyone can come out this tuesday and support our girls. they are working very very hard in practice and deserve your being there to cheer them on. the girls varsity race will begin at 4:30 and the jv race will begin at 5:45. i hope to see you all there.

below is the link for the video of our race this evening.

9-15-2012

i was very satisfied with how we ran yesterday in the holly invite. in particular madison bartlett is getting closer to where she wants to be. dina and edda both had career best times along with lexie and olivia. quinnay broke into xc with her first race coming on a very hard course.

we are definitely a much better team after yesterday's meet. more of you are now running with more intensity and that leads to faster times. we need to keep improving to get to where we want to be by the end of the season. a link to our video of yesterday's meet is included below:

9-11-2012

after reviewing the video tape and looking at the times from todays race, i feel that as a group we could have done a better job tonight so i am looking for better racing from our girls in the future. =) in particular i thought addie and paige both ran very well tonight. our next race will be in the very well known holly invitational this saturday. it is a large meet with well in excess of 1,200 runners spread over several divisions. we will be in division two this year. the jv will race at 11:20 and the varsity will race at 12:40. here is a link to the video of todays race:

9-8-2012 our girls ran well today. in particular our 3 freshmen ran very well. the run of the day had to go to lexie, especially considering it was her first race as a varsity high school runner and it would be a very fair statement to say that lexie had a major case of the prerace jitters. our next major race will be on the 11th at stratford woods park in midland. our race time is 4:30 for the varsity and 5:45 for the junior varsity. i will be splitting our squad into a varsity and jv for the first time. the girls will be told on monday which squad they are running with.

10-30-2011 our girls did an outstanding job at the regional meet yesterday. addie may ran a career best time to win the individual regional title. madison bartlett and madison stafford also ran career best times while casey phelps ran her best race of the season. we finished in 6th place just one point out of 5th place. we will be going to the state finals this coming saturday to support addie as she goes after a top 20 finish in the state finals. more information about the trip will be emailed out later today.

10-9-2011 we race davison and powers this wednesday at flushing township park. varsity girls race at 4, boys at 4:30 and jvs at 5. i hope everyone can make it out there to support us. carman will also be there which will make this a preview of next weeks conference final.

10-9-2011 our girls have been running very well lately. last week saturday we continued to improve our times and showed that we need to be considered as a contender for a top three finish in our regional. in particular haley hensel, madison bartlett and mattie soerensen all ran career best times.  the weather was very cool with a fair amount of wind. on thursday we finished 2nd in the big schools division of the greater flint invitational despite the heat. addie may was the overall winner to earn first team all county honors. aubrey routowicz ran her best time of the year to earn first team all county honors. madeline woodke finished 3rd on the varsity and also earned first team all county honors. haley hensel and madison bartlett were the other two scorers for the varsity with casey phelps and madison stafford rounding out the varsity.

9-29-2011at this point i still dont have enough drivers for saturday. right now it looks like we have transportation for 9 or maybe 11 girls. we need transportation for 18. please email meif you can help and include how many girls you can take to midland. we will meet at the high school at 7:50 so as to be on the road by 8. we will stop at macdonalds in auburn to use their bathrooms as we usually do.

9-27-2011 THE RACE FOR OCTOBER 3RD VS. DAVISON HAS BEEN MOVED TO OCTOBER 12TH. THE MEET VS. POWERS ON THE 12TH HAS BEEN MOVED FROM THE FLUSHING NATURE PARK TO THE CUMMINGS CENTER. all 4 remaining big nine schools will be in the race but we will only be running a double dual meet where we are competing again powers and davison. i hope everyone can come out and support our team in this extremely important meet. =)

9-27-2011 a lot has happened in the last week. our girls were the overall champions in the flushing invitational last thursday and we finished 4th in a very competitive field at linden last saturday. instead of earning a trophy last saturday, we were allowed to donate $25 to michigan special olympics. as difficult as the course was last saturday, mattie soerensen and maddie bartlett both ran the best times of their careers which is no small feat.

9-20-2011our girls ran very well again saturday on a tough course. the tough course along with that it was our 3rd race in five days accounts for the slower times. madison bartlett, paige funck and kelly kotsiris all ran their best time of the season despite the tougher course. haley hensel came within 3 seconds of her best time this season.

9-16-2011our girls continued to drop time yesterday at chesaning. we finished 3rd overall of the 22 competing teams. addie may, aubrey routowicz, maddie woodke and haley hensel medaled in the varsity race while casey phelps medaled in the jv race. tomorrow we go to holly which is always an exciting meet with lots of good competition. i hope to see you there.

9-12-2011 THE RACE TIME FOR TOMORROW @ CARMAN HAS BEEN CHANGED TO 5PM. i gave that information to your daughters saturday but thought a reminder might be in order. =)

9-11-2011our girls ran very well yesterday to win the corunna invitational. all of the girls dropped time with some of the girls dropping over 2 minutes. the complete results are posted here. if you go to season stats and click on the womens icon, you will be able to see the times for both races. as i add more times, you will be able to track your daughters progress through out the season.

8-31-2011 our girls ran reasonably well today at the corunna earlybird invitational. we finished 3rd out of 8 teams which is very respectable. i just finished posting times on the flushing girls page. we race on sept 10th at the same place with a race time of 9:30. we will need to provide rides for the girls to and from the meet. i will be sending out more information about that in an email. thank you to all of the parents and others who came to support our girls this afternoon. it was great to see so many of you there:).

the girls schedule for 2011 is now up and ready to go. the printed schedule you were given has the regional meet as being on friday oct 28th when it should say saturday oct 29th. i have updated the calendar on this site and believe it to be correct. if there are any errors or omissions they will be posted here.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^2011 STARTS UP THERE^^^^^^^^^^^^^

our girls ran very well in yesterdays 9/10 meet in spite of the harsh winds. times were roughly a minute slower then normal because of those winds. in spite of that andrea bade ran a career best time by 2 seconds and madison bartlett was 22 seconds off of her career best time with both of them earning medals. haley hensel also earned a medal by finishing as the 4th fastest freshmen. maddie woodke earned the trophy for the best sophomore in the race after winning this race last year. our girls earned the 2nd place trophy which is our 5th trophy won this season.

we continued to head in the right direction last night in the big 9 final. again 7 girls ran the best time of their careers and another ran the best time of the season. only 3 of the girls were the same ones as did that at goodrich. i am positive that last night helped the girls gain confidence going into the regional meet a week from this saturday. we also greatly narrowed the gap between us and the magical 3rd place team finish. lets hope for good weather on regional day.

we regained our momentum and ran well today in the goodrich invitational. we finished 2nd out of 7 teams. i havent had a chance to analyze the numbers thoroughly but based on what i saw today, four girls ran exceptionally well today. those four in alphabetical order are bade, bartlett, hensel and lockhart which is very good news for the future because the first 3 are all freshmen. 7 of our girls ran career best times and an 8th ran her best time of the season.

we had to have an off day sooner or later and yesterday(10-13-2010) was it. i feel that our girls (with a few exceptions) did not run up to their capabilities against powers last night. i think they let the weather and the course conditions get to them. hopefully, they learned that weather and course conditions are the same for all competing teams and that they need to race and not just run no matter what the weather conditions are. it appears as if we are going to have excellent race conditions for saturdays invite at goodrich so hopefully they will once again run up to their abilities.

our girls ran well again thursday in the greater flint open. however, i think we ran a little bit better on monday against davison. the exceptions to that would be haley hensel and danielle lockhart who both ran career best times on thursday. despite leigh (who is alright now) not finishing the race, we were able to finish 2nd in our division and 4th overall. overall, we continued to show improvement this week. we will need to show significant and continued improvement over the next three weeks if we are going to make the state finals this year as a team.

we race against powers on wednesday @ swartz creek golf course. we race saturday(oct 16) at the goodrich invitational. if you can drive saturday, please let me know along with how many girls you can transport. once again, thank you for supporting our girls.

our girls turned in an absolutely stunning performance tonight(10-4-10). 9 of the 18 girls who raced had either their best time of the season or the best time of their careers. three factors would say that this should not have happened. it is our second race in three days, there was a homecoming dance in between and realistically davison did not provide us with much competition as is witnessed by the fact that we beat them 16 (15 is a perfect score in cross country) to 45. on the other hand, the weather and course conditions were near perfect for running great times today. also, flushing's home course is very conducive to running fast times. our course is an accurate 5000 meters as it has been wheeled (measured) many times over the last several years since mr. gutscher and myself laid out the course.

we finished 6th out of 12 competing teams which is very good when you consider that we did not have two of our top 5 running today. so i am pleased with that results. all results for flushing have been posted to this site. in addition, i posted the times and places of anyone from any team who would influence the hypothetical regional results. 3 of our girls ran the best time of their careers and 4 others ran their best time of the season. slowly but surely we are heading towards peaking at the right time.

we easily defeated carman tonight despite two of our top girls not counting in the scoring. maddie woodke and aubrey routowicz took over the leadership during the race and finished .2 seconds apart after running 3.107 miles. the final score was flushing 19 and carman 42.

all varsity and jv times have been posted to this site. i felt we could have done a little better today then we did. with that being said, two of my top 10 runners said they were not feeling their best in pre-race warmup and a third girl coughed up her breakfast at the start line. despite this, our A team finished 6th out of 17 A teams while our B team finshed 4th out of 8 B teams.

our varsity and jv dominated the flushing invitational tonight. our varsity had the large school division winner with 4 others in the top 8 of the large school division. our jv athletes had 3 of the first 4 finishers in the overall jv race with a total of 7 jv girls ending up with medals. all in all, a very good day of racing.

our girls ran very well again saturday at holly. the times were slower but the conditions at holly were not very favorable for running fast. there had been rain earlier in the day and the course continued to get worse race by race. we were the 16th race of the day on that course so you can imagine what the race conditions were like for our girls. we were moved up to division one this year where we finished 5th despite being the smallest school in that division based on enrollment. normally we are in division two and based on the times we ran, we would have won that division. in spite of running in a much tougher division, leigh bravender, aubrey routowicz, madeline woodke, and michelle farah all earned impressive medals in their race.

i am old enough that i get my first social security check next month so i have seen a lot, done a lot and dont get excited very easily anymore. with that being said, the way our girls ran and raced tonight definitely has me excited. if we continue to work hard and stay healthy, we will be in the hunt for a chance to run in the state finals as a team. the girls trained very hard this week and todays fine times were the result. the weather conditions were not ideal with the wind and the course was somewhat soft from all of the rain which makes these performances that much more impressive. 8 girls ran the best time of their xc careers and another 5 ran their best time of the season. i would call that an excellent day of racing. all times for the varsity and jv races have been updated on this site.
