Welcome to the School of Champions Lane Tech XC website! Our season is short so we run all summer long to get in top shape by the start of the XC Season. We encourage student athletes of all abilities regardless of running experience to join XC, everyone makes the team! We are the only Co-Ed team at Lane Tech.
Summer Conditioning (must bring IHSA physical & complete online school athletic forms)- Monday July 8, 2013 9am-10:30am Horner Park, Irving Pk and California, meet at the concession stand. We meet every W, Fr, Mon, thereafter until the season officially starts Wednesday August 14, 9am at Lane Tech Stadium.
Official Season (In order to be eligible for XC bring a LT Players Card by attending athlete registration day either Monday Aug. 12 or Tuesday Aug 13 8am-12pm room 118 at Lane. IHSA Physical, completed online athletic forms and $75 transportation fee should be turned in at this time) Meet Wed. August 14, 2013 9am at Lane Stadium. Bring Water Bottle, Running Shoes, Running Gear. We meet regardless of rain, snow, or heat. We practice indoors if the weather is too dangerous to participate outside. The season concludes for Varsity Nov. 9 and Oct. 19 for most F/S/JV.
2013 Weekly Practice Schedule The first week of practice is Wednesday Aug 14 and Thursday Aug 15th 9am-11am at Lane Tech outside Door D on the gym steps (off of Addison). Monday Sept 23rd-27th 3:30pm-5:15pm at Lane. Friday 9/27 athletes have the option to attend our morning practice at 6:50am dressed ready to run and meet at the gym steps or they can attend the normal practice time after school 3:30pm. Mather Bus Schedule: leave Lane 2:00pm, approximate return back to Lane 6:00pm. During the school year we meet 3:30-5:15pm Monday-Friday on the steps outside Door D. We reserve the right to host practices on Saturdays. Please lock all of your school clothes/materials in the locker room using a Lane Tech issued lock.
Running Shoes - Visit Universal Sole 3052 N. Lincoln to purchase an awesome pair of distance training shoes or Racing Spikes. Say you run for Lane Tech and receive up to 15% off all running accessories/shoes. Distance running training shoes should be your first purchase. Try them on in the store, go for a jog on the sidewalk. Do not purchase your shoes based on their looks. Team racing spikes can be purchased at Universal Sole. These shoes are used primarily in races and in a few practices.
