Ben Hughes Memorial Race is August 7th - no charge to race and everyone is welcome. I need volunteers to help administer the race ... because I'm not allowed to do it (IHSAA rules about coaching two weeks before the season starts). Please let me know if you (or your parents) want to help out.
Hey! It's July! Time to get serious, everyone! Get your summer running done --- and racing. And come to the weight room as often as possible. It's open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8-9am.
We were pretty good last year, but we can do better this year. Get your team mates and get running!
(Besides, you KNOW Melba's team is out to win again! Let's make them work really hard for anything they get this year!)

Summer Running
We’re all in this together:
NPHS Cross Country Family 2010
Don't look back. Something might be gaining on you.
- Satchel Paige
We made some changes to the program last year that had some great, positive effects: summer running & weights top the list. We will continue with what worked and seek for even better results in 2010!
o Summer running – 5-6 days/week
o Summer racing – do it!
o Summer weight room – MWF 8am
o Greater emphasis on school work – study hall
o Greater expectations from each other – expect each other to work hard and do well. Walking is a highly contagious disease: don’t be the one to start the epidemic!
Requirements for senior trip 2010

All the above are in addition to the School District eligibility requirements.
Frequently asked questions:
· Do I have to write down my miles? – yes.
· How do I get into a race? – look them up on line. Watch shop windows for flyers about races. Ask your teammates. Plan your summer ahead of time since most races have a deadline to enter. They also have entry fees.
Tentative XC Schedule for 2010 - seriously subject to change, so don't write this in ink on your calendar. Keep your eyes on athletic.net to see the most current calendar…
