Asia Pacific Invitational V 2008 RESULTS!

13 boys eclipsed the previous course record, 3 of them from CAJ (almost 4). 4 girls eclipsed the previous course record, 2 of them from CAJ (almost 3). The final weekend reveals 2008 to be CAJ`s best team ever (since 1992)!

4 boys in the top 8 at CAJ for 5000 meters: Eric, Seikichi, Taro, Jared, (Koji is 16th)

New USA 2008 high school boys 2-mile record 8:34.40. That`s 4:17 mile twice! 3K time was 7:59.

Kurome and Ochiai Rivers loop (Lots of rubber):
9.2k version , 11.5k version - closest to home

Karabori and Yanase Rivers (Higashi Murayama, Akitsu, Kiyose):
Bike to the river near Akitsu station, or ride the train.

9.6k Down&Back KaraboriGawa-YanaseGawa (the two rivers meet at Koganei Kaido) downstream from Shiki Kaido. The Rivers run between Akitsu, Kiyose and Shin Tokorozawa. lower part has best stretch of the river for shade, soft, grassy paths. Fantastic 1260m loop totally in the shade, can run in dirt rather than paved path.
Can go downstream all the way to juncture with Kuromegawa and then back up to CAJ (35k loop starting in HK - nice bike ride)

11k Up&Back KaraboriGawa upstream from AkitsuStation / Shiki Kaido to intersection with Tama-Ko bike trail. Best stretch of river for wide, well-maintained, well-lighted trails both sides of river. Great night running, biking (all the way to Lake Tama!).

Rubberized Running-loops:
Park in Hibarigaoka 2.5k jog from CAJ to 620m loop.
Park in Wakoshi 7k bike ride to 800m and 1000m loops. Lots of shady trees.

Grassy and Dirt Running trails:
5k Niiza Sports Complex 3.5k bike ride from CAJ. Shade
10k Down&Back KuromeGawa To Harp Bridge. Dirt path (use paved side on rainy days).
9.6k Down&Back KaraboriGawa-YanaseGawa downstream from ShikiKaido

Seibu Dome/Tama Lake 5k race site
Can train here alone if you wish. Do a lot of strides in the grass
Seibu Dome/Sayama Lake Dam
2.6k + many variations, nice hills; some paved, some dirt; pea gravel area good for ankle strength. Safe to train here alone if you wish.
Seibu Dome/Sayama Lake Full Loop
Solitary 10 mile (16k) 2/3 dirt path. Good biking too. Don`t go alone - take a friend.
Seibu Dome/Tama Lake Full Loop
Solitary 9 mile (14k) all paved. Don`t go alone - take a friend

Bike ride - it`s about 35 K from CAJ via YanaseGawa to TamaKo and around. Add 10k if you include going around SayamaKo.

Do as much of your running as you can on the soft surfaces along the river or in the various parks. Avoid the old courses on hard surfaces (eg Hostel, Dog, Eby Hills).
