Hi to everyone,
Well the girls team did great at State this weekend. They went into the meet ranked 13th out of 14 teams and ran so well that they placed 9th. A huge accomplishment for all the girls. Not only did they get 9th they beat Franklin, which they have not done all season long. As coaches we could not be prouder of the girls and how hard they worked all season to not only accomplish a team goal of making it to the State meet but finishing 9th, meaning Gresham Girls Cross Country is the 9th fastest team in the State of Oregon. WOW.
A big thank you to all of the parents, runners and friends that came to Eugene in the pouring rain to support the girls as they ran. Even though it was rainy it was an amazing race.
Important Info and Dates to Remember:
-All athletes need to turn in all pieces of their uniform ASAP. Athletes will not be cleared for Winter Sports until the complete uniform is turned in or paid for. If any piece of the uniform is lost then you will be charged for that item of clothing.
-The Fall sports awards is on Wednesday November 18th at 6:30 pm in the GHS Cafeteria. Every athlete on the team will be recognized and given a certificate. Please come to help honor the hard work of all the athletes.
-Another huge thank you to all of the parents that volunteered to help this season with transportation, concessions, spaghetti feeds and working at our meets. Coach Collins and I could not do this without all of your help and support.
-Any athletes that are not doing a school sport during the Winter and are interested in running I will be taking this week off to spend some time with my family but next Monday I will be able to meet right after school to start preparing for track season in the Spring. Anyone is welcome to run, even if you are not planning on running track.
