The beautiful north Olympic peninsula and the coastal strip of the Strait of Juan De Fuca is home to the Crescent Loggers. Crescent, with a rich recent history of outstanding track and field teams and athletes: double state championships (boys and girls teams) in 1997 and twelve teams in the top ten at state since 1994; Vanessa Wilhelm ranked fifth nationally in women's javelin 1997 and post-high school Olympic Trials qualifier in 2004 and 2008. Four athletes have moved on to compete in track and field at NCAA Division I level since 1997 : Stephanie Kubalek, Eastern Washington University (800m), Rick Halberg, University of Texas (decathlon, team captain), Vanessa Wilhelm, Oklahoma State University/ Azusa Pacific (shot/discus/javelin/hammer) , Tommy Farris, U of W Huskies freshman javelin thrower 2008, the most recent. '08 cross country team was led by state qualifiers, Sophomore, Dylan Christie, and Junior, Jon Waldrip. Junior, Dakota Coffey, the lone girl runner on the team, also ran a State in 2008.
