8TH ANNNUAL DICK WILLIAMS INVITATIONAL
Dear Coaches,
We would like to invite you to participate in the 8th Annual Dick Williams Track and Field Invitational here at East Mecklenburg High School. We will host the event on Friday April 23, 2010. We are inviting all Men’s Track and Field athletic teams in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg and other surrounding counties, as well. Join us under the lights for what we believe will be a very special night for your athletes.
Both team and runner-up trophies will be awarded. Medals will be given to the top 3 men. This meet will be scored through six places.
You must put your entries in by April 20th by 10:00 am at athletic.net .
There will be a coaches’ meeting (in the press box) at 4:00 p.m. with field events starting at 4:30 p.m. (Discus and Shot Put – 4 throws, no finals, Long and Triple Jump – 4 jumps, no finals) High Jump bar starts at 5’8” and pole vault 8’6”. Running events – all trials set to start at 5:00 p.m. Each school is limited to two athletes per event. The 400 Dash and 300 Intermediate Hurdles are timed finals. (Coaches, it is important that you be very accurate with entry times.)
Entry fee is $60.00 per boy team. Individual athletes will be charged $5.00 per event. If a relay team is entered, the fee will remain at the $60.00 team fee. Make all checks payable to East Mecklenburg Booster Club. Payment will be collected at the gate to receive team packet.
REMINDER: Only 2 entries are allowed per event. Any team entering more than 2 entries in an event will have all but their first 2 entries scratched.
POLE VAULT INFORMATION:
A decision has finally been made regarding the pole vault for the Dick Williams Invitational. Due to issues that make our facility unsafe for the event, the men's pole vault will be held at Providence High School on Thursday during the Girls Challenge. PLEASE SEND ALL POLE VAULTERS TO THAT MEET AS THEY WILL VAULT AT PROVIDENCE ON THURSDAY RATHER THAN AT EAST ON FRIDAY. Thank you and I am sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause.
Scratches:
Please email all scratches by Thursday April 22 at 5 PM. Remember that we will not be adding or changing runners at this point only scratching entries who will no longer be participating. Thanks.
