Grade separated meets are a chance for the "JV" athletes to gain competition experience, with separate heats for sophomore, sometimes for juniors. The varsity athletes have been focused on the national championship qualifying rounds, the state levels having just taken place (mid May to early June) and the regionals to take place later in June. Some varsity athletes who did not qualify for regionals take part.
Depending on the locality, the grade-separated JV meets will be held throughout June.
Of the thousands of athletic efforts in these grade-separated JV meets, only the elite marks in the middle distances are recorded here.
