Welcome to the annual Sisters Rotary Invitational. We look forward to hosting all the teams.
Schedule: Field events will begin at 10:00 a.m., which is a change from past years. Our hope is to get many of the field events well underway, if not finished before running events begin at 12:00 noon.
Girls will go first for pole vault, discus, and javelin
Boys will go first for shot put and high jump.
Change: Boys and Girls Long Jump will run simultaneously at 10;00 A.M.; Boys in West Pit, Girls in East.
Triple Jump will follow at approx. 11:30. All throwing events and the Long/Triple Jump will give each competitor 4 attempts - NO finals in this early meet.
Girls High Jump will start at 4'0; boys open at 5'0; Girls Pole Vault open at 6'0 (lowest our standards go); boys Pole Vault this year will open at 8'0. Coaches are required to provide an OSAA weight verification chart signed by the head coach to the PV official before any warmup jump.
Entries are limited to three varsity level individuals in each race. This does not mean that you must enter three. We ask that you use your best discretion as coaches to keep things competitive for all. Exceptions to this rule of three may be requested, but additional competitors would not be scored. For example, Summit HS has four female high jumpers who are all over five feet. We will allow this, but the fourth individual will be unscored. We also may run a "B" heat of the 1500 if entries are "deep" in that event and only three runners from the same team will score.
Athletic.net has largely eliminated the problem of coaches "fudging" on times for athletes for seeding. Heats will be made by use of entry times and final results will be based on actual finish times.
You are encouraged to begin making your entries at any time. Our deadline is Thursday, April 5 at 6:00 p.m. Substitutions and scratches will be handled at the coaches' meeting at 9:15.
Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers per event and team trophies will go to the top girls' and boys' team. We will make packets with medals enclosed for each team.
Weather is always an issue in the spring time in Central Oregon. We've had snow at this meet as well as sunny and warm weather. Pray for the latter! (Call me in the a.m. if you are facing weather issues in getting here. 541-647-3314. We have no covered stands. Our middle school gym will be open for locker room use. Please be part of making sure the lockers rooms are kept clean.
The Sisters Rotary Club will operate a concession stand that includes a bbq. Coaches will be given tickets to access lunch.
Entry fee is $75 made to Sisters High School Track and Field. Checks can be sent to 1700 West McKinney Butte Drive, Sisters, Oregon 97759.
