2012 First Annual GCMSAA Relays

This meet is only open to grade 7 and grade 8 athletes.
Limited to A and B relay team (we expect about 10 teams and expect 3 heats per race, 2 heats for the SMR/4x800)
Deadline is March 19th, the Monday before the meet on March 23th – Friday.
4:00 Girls 4 X 800m Relay (2 heats max)
4:30 Boys 4 X 800m Relay (2 heats max)
5:00 Hurdle Relay Coed (could be separated if enough entries)
5:15 Girls 4 X 200m Relay
5:30 Boys 4 X 200m Relay
5:45 Girls 4 X 100m Relay
6:00 Boys 4 X 100m Relay
6:15 SMR – 400, 200, 200 and 800 – Long SM (2 heats?)
6:30 SMR – 400, 200, 200 and 800 – Long SM (2 heats?)
6:45 Girls 4 X 400m Relay - 3 TURN stagger
7:00 Boys 4 X 400m Relay - 3 TURN stagger
Finish would be 7:15

Coaches and athletes, Welcome to the First Annual GCMSAA Relays.
1. RULES - NFHS rules apply. Below are a few reminders.
a. Discuss with your athletes the Jewelry and Uniform rules.
b. Athletes can only compete in a maximum of 4 events.
c. FALSE STARTS In the event of a false start the entire field is charged. The next runner that commits a false start will be disqualified from the event.
2. MEDICAL - For athletic teams traveling without an athletic trainer our Sports Medicine Department is available, if asked, for emergency care and basic first aid. Water and injury ice will be available at the first aid tent. Athletes who need any preventative taping/wrapping should bring supplies so that the Trainers can apply the tapings etc.
3. HIP NUMBERS may be used. Athletes need to get them when they check in for the race.
4. EXCHANGE ZONES (TRIANGLES on track)
a. 4x100 Zone – GREEN
b. 4x200 Zone – First exchange YELLOW (leg 1-2), then GREEN (leg 3-4)
c. 4x400 Zone – First exchange BLUE, then rest WHITE
d. 4x800 Zone – WHITE
5. SCORING - “A” and “B” teams for relays will score.
6. Check in Area is in the High Jump Pit.
7. POINTS for the top 8 in each event. 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1
8. RESULTS - Results will be posted on the board after each event with team scores. Please keep your athletes and coaches away from the computer scorers at the tent on the field.
i. Results will also be emailed to coaches right after the meet ends. They will be also sent to NCPreptrack.com, NCrunners.com.
ii. Also they will be sent to the charlotte Observer and Charlotte Weekly.
9. TENTS can be set up on the upper fields behind the stadium entrance.
10. INFIELD - NO athletes should be on the INFIELD unless they are competing or checking in.
11. RESTRICTED AREAS - Please keep all athletes and spectators from crossing the finish line areas during a race.
12. PARKING Car and Bus parking is available in one of three lots near the school. See map on the next page. Busses should park near the track (see map) and go in the back way from Fairview road (must be heading east) and cars in the other lots in front of the school.
13. FOOD Concession stands will be open.
14. NO ADMISSION fees for spectators will be applied.
15. COACHES MEETING – There will be a quick 3:45 coaches meeting.
16. RULES committee of 3 coaches and the Meet director, will be needed to review any violations. If you have a concern please bring it to the Meet Director
