The annual Gene Hughes Invitational Track Meet will be held in Corvallis on March 31st, beginning at 9:00 AM. This will be a varsity and novice meet. A schedule of events is attached.
PARTICIPATING TEAMS: Arlee, Corvallis, Darby, Florence, Hamilton, Stevensville, Butte Central, Polson, Seeley Lake, Thompson Falls, Loyola
AWARDS: Ribbons will be awarded to the top 6 places. (Varsity only)
ENTRIES: Entries will be completed via athletic.net. Please use times and performances from last year, and with new athletes use your best judgment and estimate what their times and performances will be. Entries will be due at 3:30pm on Wed. March 28, 2012. There will be a limit to 4 varsity and 4 novice entries from each school. (Boys and Girls)
SCORING: 10-8-6-4-2-1
FIELD EVENTS: There will be flights in each event. Each athlete will receive three attempts, with the top 10 in the horizontal jumps and throwing events receiving three more throws/jumps in the finals (Varsity). There will be no finals for Novice competitions. For the long jump, triple jumps, and pole vault, please have your athletes wear 1/8" pyramid spikes. Long Jump will be flighted based on participation in the 100m Dash. Those participating in the 100m Dash or Hurdles will be in the first two flights. This is an attempt to minimize confusion and waiting. We will start the events on time at 9:00 am. If your athletes need to warm up please plan accordingly and be here prior to that time. We will also begin the next field events scheduled early if the previous events finish early i.e. If the Boy’s High Jump finishes before 12:30 we will begin the girls High Jump shortly after.
DISTANCE RUNS: We will use a two turn stagger.
OTHER RACES: All running events will be timed finals. (Varsity & Novice)
