ADMISSION: Adults - $5.00
Students and Children - $3.00
Children under 5 – FREE
TRACK: All-weather, 8 lane track. 1/4” or 1/8” spikes only. Any violation will result in immediate disqualification from the meet.
All jump event runways and aprons are all-weather. The same spike rules apply as in the track events.
Blocks will be furnished.
Shot Put and Discus surfaces are concrete. Weigh-ins will begin at 8:30am.
Each school will provide their own batons, shots and discs.
Timing will be electronic and backed up by watches. We will NOT slow down the meet for Accu-Track malfunctions. Hand times will be used, and the event will not be state-qualifying.
RULES AND
REGULATIONS: All non-participants and coaches must stay away from the finish line at all times during the meet. All participants are expected to stay on the field below the South end of the track when warming up. No warm-ups on the football field. When not participating, please stay in the stands.
National Federation of State High School Association rules will be used. Coaches and spectators are to remain in the stands for both prelims and finals. A one-point deduction will be assessed to any team in violation.
PARTICIPATION: Each team may enter 3 participants in each event and 1 relay team. All entries MUST be entered online at www.athletic.net no later than NOON on Tuesday, March 9, 2009.
AWARDS: Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishers in all events. Medals can be picked up after awards ceremony.
TROPHIES: Championship Trophies for both Boys and Girls
Runner-up trophies for both Boys and Girls
Top male and female athletes (determined by Games Committee)
SCORING: All scoring will be 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1
TRACK EVENTS: The 200m will be run on a full curve.
The 400m will be run in lanes
Box alley starts for the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m. A waterfall start will be used if the number of participants permits.
In the 1600m relay and 3200m relay, a three-turn stagger will be used.
FIELD EVENTS: Girls high jump will start at 4’4” with 2” raises until 5’0” and then will have 1” raises.
Boys high jump will start at 5’4” with 2’ raises until 6’0” and then will have 1” raises.
Shot Put and Discus: THREE THROWS will be allowed with best mark being carried to the finals. Top nine throwers go to finals with THREE more throws.
Long Jump and Triple Jump: THREE JUMPS will be allowed with best mark being carried to the finals. Top nine jumpers go to finals with THREE more jumps.
Pole Vault will start at 6’0” for girls and 9’0” for boys with bar raises at 6”.
GAMES COMMITTEE: Michelle Hall, Jackie Greer, Dave Van Sickle and Junior Michael.
LANE ASSIGNMENT: Lanes will be assigned by seeded times. Any late entries will be seeded into lanes 1 and 8. Fastest eight times go to finals. Heat winners are NOT guaranteed a place in the Finals.
General Information
North Canyon Invitational Track & Field Meet
Curve Judges and Exchange Inspectors will be used. Infractions will be signaled with a red/white flag.
Athletes must stay in their lanes at the conclusion of their race. Wait for judges to come to you. Do not go to the finish judge.
Athletes must report to the staging area or “bullpen” by the 2nd call.
At the staging area athletes will:
ü Receive starting instructions
ü Receive their lane assignment
ü Be checked for proper uniform
ü Turn in their relay cards
If an athlete fails to report by the 3rd call, he/she will not be allowed to participate in that event.
Any lost appeal will result in a 1-point deduction from the team score. Judgments cannot be appealed.
The Referee, Michelle Hall, has the authority to run the meet. Games Committee will make any decision appealed past the Referee.
Athletes must compete in a school uniform, relays must all be identical. Sweats or warm-ups are allowed if school-issued. If the uniform is improper, the athlete will not be allowed to compete.
Team tents and camps must be set up in the bleacher area, not on any part of the field.
There will be no radios, CD players, Frisbees, etc allowed near the track. NOISE DISRUPTS THE START OF RACES.
NO jewelry will be allowed. Religious and medical medals must be taped to chest under uniform.
Heat sheets and results will be posted on the results board near the concession stand. Coaches are asked to be patient and wait for the posting. Do not go to the press box and ask for results.
Final results will be available online at www.athletic.net on Monday. If there is a technical problem, results will be mailed to your school the following week.
T-shirts will be available for purchase / there will be a snack bar throughout the event.

***NOTE: We are using a running time schedule. Make sure your athletes are aware of the order of events. This allows the meet to run more smoothly. We will take an hour break after the completion of the girls 200m. However, if the meet is running behind schedule, we will not take a break. We plan on a starting time of 2:30 for the finals.
