Dear Far West League Coaches,
We were forced to move the Far West League District Track & Field Meet to Friday instead of Saturday, because of scheduling conflicts. As a result, there is one less day to prepare for the meet. It is imperative to have results from the three sub district meets entered at athletic.net as soon as possible, so we can determine the qualifying scores and times and pick the 3 at-large recipients for each event. As you may remember, each of the 3 sub district meets has 3 automatic qualifiers for each event, followed by the 3 next best at-large members from the combined 3 sub districts.
Once we know who those are, I will be sending you out a list to each coach to verify for errors or scratches, and have each of you enter your athletes into the District Meet. It is my intention, that I will be able to send you this on Monday morning, May 2nd. A reminder, that the District seeding is done with Sub District times and scores, so you will need to override the performers marks, if they are worse than their seasons PR’s.
District Track meet at Pete Susick Stadium, Marshfield H.S., Friday, May 7, 2010
Field events: 3:30
Running events: 4:30
The track will be open for warm-up beginning at 2:30 pm on Friday. Coaches scratch meeting at 3:00 pm. However, it would be helpful if the coaches called in their scratches enroute or before leaving their schools to this number: 541-294-0919. Coaches will receive a meal voucher at the scratch meeting which is good for a free hot dog, popcorn, and a drink.
Also at the scratch meeting, we will be providing you the Lane and Heat assignments. The automatic 3 qualifiers from each sub district are ranked, the three at large birth entries are noted 10th-12th for each event. We will be uploading the entrants from athletic.net into hytek for the meet, and the results will be posted on athletic.net at the conclusion of the meet.
Parents, students and spectators are asked to stay outside the fenced area and infield. Only coaches, track officials, judges, and participating athletes in uniform are allowed on the football field. Concessions and rest rooms will be available at the track.
PLEASE e-mail any questions you may have to dougf@coos-bay.k12.or.us as soon as possible. and enter any at-large entrants into the athletic.net website, so we can have the programs completed.
Please have a coach available to judge the 4 x 100 relay exchanges.
There has been some questions in previous years regarding relay teams who were disqualified at the sub district meets and or pole vaulters or high jumpers who no heighted. If they were disqualified or no heighted, they are ineligible for the district meet.
