1st Annual
White River High School
Junior Varsity Invitational
Coaches, the goal of this invitational is to give younger and less experienced athletes a chance to compete in an invitational and have some fun. This is an invitational that is for student/athletes that are at or below the following standards. These are the athletes we are looking for in this meet.
-
Your younger Freshman or Sophomore Athletes that are in your program and do not get to go to varsity level invitationals or don’t get to compete in many competitions throughout the season, except for duals or non-conference JV types of meets.
-
It is for any athlete (grades 9-12) that meet or are below the standards and want to compete in an invitational type event and have a chance to earn a medal for their performance.
Note: This is a JV contest, so it will not count against your WIAA limit for Varsity Contests. Qualifying for this invite will be done by maximum standards, rather than minimum standards (i.e. athlete cannot run faster than 12.2 in the 100m). Furthermore, since this meet is at the beginning of the season, we are leaving up to your discretion to make the appropriate decision on who competes. For instance, if this is an athlete that you think will be a varsity level competitor all year, please do not allow them to compete.
Date: Friday Evening March 19th
Place: White River High School
Time: 3:15 Start - Coaches meeting at 3:00
Please do not arrive prior to 2:30. White River gets out of school at 2:10 and it takes about 20 minutes for the traffic to ease up. There is only one way in and out of our school and limited parking during school hours. Also please enter and follow the signs for student parking. It is behind the gym and the closest access to the track with plenty of room for bus parking after they drop your athletes off.
White River High School’s track is an 8 Lane rubberized track, with rubberized runways for the long, triple jump, high jump and pole vault. In the long and triple jump, we will be running two pits at the same time. We have a shot and discus ring in 2 separate areas and will be throwing the Javelin in a grass field out behind the visitor’s stadium. Both sides of the stadium are NOT covered. We will have a concession stand and food available to purchase at the event. We utilize a fully automatic timing system and White River High School staff, varsity athletes, community members and parents will be assisting in the running of this meet.
Cost: $35 per individual team, $70 combined boys and girls teams.
For more information about maximum standards, see the maximum standards list on 2nd page.
Individual medals will be given to the top 6 places in each event. All throwing events and the long and triple jump will get only 4 attempts and event will be open for a specified amount of time. There will be no finals.
We would really like to make this a yearly event, so that you can bring your athletes year after year. The first event will start at or around 3:15 and continue on a rolling time schedule. Please register you kids on athletic.net as the entries from this meet will be taken from the site on Wednesday March 17th at 12:00 pm. If you plan on attending this meet, please email me at jscheidt@whiteriver.wednet.edu ASAP so I can start getting a count of the number of teams and individuals that will be participating.

Track Events – Information
Please submit all running entries online. It is much easier to scratch someone than add someone to the event. Therefore, any additions must be made at the beginning of the meet at the coaches meeting. Furthermore, all athletes in running events should report to the starting area for their respective race by the second call, so lanes can be assigned. There will be no seeding for all running events, because it is the beginning of season and not many competitors will have any times. All athletes competing in the 1600 & 3200m will be in one race.
