Welcome to the third annual Phoenix 5k! For all teams this will be the last chance through a competition to clarify who your top runners will be for the upcoming Conference Championships. In the past coaches have made decisions to have their student-athletes race this event, use it as a competitive workout or, both; as before, we continue to invite coaches to use this competition in whatever manner they feel will best prepare their team for their Conference Championshps. In honoring the sport of Cross Country while trying to facilitate your teams respective needs, we plan to run a single boys race and a single girls race (no Varsity or Jr.Varsity distinction, no school size consideration, no team scores). The course is soft surface (mostly grass) and therefore good on the legs; Spikes are recommended. If dry and run aggressively this could be a quick course; if wet and muddy, then slow. It is a beautiful, very spectator-friendly racing venue which rewards those who have mental toughness and who compete aggressively. Numbered "Top Finisher" ribbons to the top 50 finishers in each race. $5/athlete, with a cap of $50 regardless of how may runners you bring (if a team has financial need just contact us and we can work something out)
