Welcome to the 8th annual Tomahawk Track & Field Classic. We are excited to return this meet to the high school track season.
It is our intention to make the 2011 version of our meet an 8 team invitational. Your team must be confirmed in order to compete. Please contact Randy Davis.
Our philosophy is to make this meet a team-focused event that is athlete friendly.
Facility
Marysville-Pilchuck’s track and field event facilities are great! Honestly, this is one of the newest and best facilities around. The stadium is covered, the new visitor stands are not. Only 1/4” spikes may be used. The shot and discus events are thrown inside the stadium area. The javelin (our only not new event area) will be thrown from a grass runway. All events, except javelin, can be seen from the grandstands.
Directions
Directions to Marysville-Pilchuck High are included.
Team Entries
A comprehensive $100 entry fee from each school (combined boys and girls teams) should be sent to: Randy Davis, MPHS, 5611 108th St NE, Marysville, WA, 98271. Checks should be payable to: MPHS Track & Field
Entry Procedure
Entries must be sent electronically via www.athletic.net by Wednesday, April 27th. I will then seed events and send out drafts of heats/flights. Changes via website are encouraged until 4:00pm Friday, April 29th.Coaches will receive updates of entries, flights, heats via email during the week. These are drafts to inform.
Changes can be made at the coaches meeting on the day of the meet but, with the flexibility we are offering during the week, we hope only to have scratches on meet day.
Running Event Entries
Each school may enter three athletes in all events. Entries will be seeded by entry mark. Please be honest. Heats will go from slowest to fastest. The last heat will be the fastest heat. One relay team from each school may be entered. Stacking entries of teammates may occur in the 800 depending on heats.
Field Event Entries
Each school may enter up to three athletes in each field event. Athletes will be assigned in flights with the third flight the top 8 seeded jumpers. Three jumps or throws will be given in prelims with the top eight qualifying for three more jumps or throws in the finals.
Warm-ups: Warming up for all field events will only be allowed when an official is present. Safety is a top priority! A general warm-up will take place prior to the start of competition with an additional 5-minute period between flights and the finals.
Entries are due Wednesday, April 27rd, 2011 on athletic.net
Field Event Check-In
Athletes are to check-in with the officials at the respective field event area at least 15 minutes prior to the first flight of the event.
Running Event Check-In
Athletes are to check-in with the Clerk for each running event upon first call by the announcer. Coaches should inform the Clerk if an athlete is scratching an event.
Scoring and Awards
The top eight finishers in each event will score as follows: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1. If there is a tie, the runner from the faster seeded heats will take priority. All entrants and relay teams may score. Finishlynx will be used for electronic times. Currently, we are exploring options for team and individual awards due to budget issues.
Admission
$4 Admission per person, children and students with MPHS ASB card will be admitted free of charge.
Results
The top eight finishers in each event will be announced. Complete results of all heats and field events will be available as soon as possible at the conclusion of the meet and will be uploaded on athletics.net.
