October 5th, 2011
Dear Coach,
The 27th King’s Invitational will be held on April 21, 2012 at Woolsey Stadium on the King’s Campus. Upon arrival, pick up a coaches’ packet at the front of the track shed, and make any necessary scratches or changes on the heat sheets. Any adds that were not made on athletic.net will need to be made at the coaches meeting. We need all the buses to drop off their athletes and park at the Elementary school. The drivers of the buses can walk across campus back to the track it’s a 3 minute walk. The all-comers mile run will begin at 11:00 a.m. At 10:30 there will be a coaches meeting in front of the shed. At 12:00 all events will take a ten minute break. Please inform your athletes, parents and assistant coaches they are expected to go into the stands for a brief greeting. This may interrupt the flow of the athletes’ competition, but we feel this is an important part of our meet. For a quick reference here is a time schedule:
Ø 10:20 Coaches Meeting
Ø 10:30 All Field Events
Boys Girls
Shot Put High Jump
Long Jump (North Pit) Long Jump (South Pit)
Javelin (Upper Field) Javelin (Lower Field)

Traveling trophies will be awarded to the first place teams and we also award the Howard Thompson Outstanding Male and Female athletes of the meet. Ribbons will be awarded for fourth through eighth places in all individual events and relays. Event champion T-shirts will be given to each event winner. Awards will be presented to 1st -8th places on an award stand after the conclusion of the event.
Each school may have two entries in all events except the relays in which one team will be allowed (if you have special circumstances with athletes contact me and we will see what we can do). Please make your entries carefully with the athletes’ best mark from this season. We all have kids that will better their marks but we will not rearrange heats due to PR’s that happen after the entry deadline. I’m sure that you understand the problem that excessive withdrawals/additions cause after lane and section assignments have been made. The section with the faster entries will run last. Places will be determined by times; no finals will be run.
In the field events there will be three preliminary attempts with the top eight athletes going to finals, where three more attempts will be given.
The Washington rules of the three turn stagger for both the 4x200 and 4x400 meter relays will be enforced. Rubber tipped javelins are also required. Please note these rules if coming from out of state.
Track runways are all surfaced with a rubberized surface, short spikes ¼” or 1/8” pyramids are required (we will be selling replacements in the T-shirt stand). The Javelin will be thrown off grass on the lower field for girls and off of track surface on the upper field for guys. Please remind your athletes and parents to stay outside the track, unless warming up, and please always stay away from finish line and timing area. There will also be a throws coach area that will be roped off for coaches only. Restrooms and a full concession stand including BBQ located in the upper parking lot on the North end of the track. We are selling meet T-shirts ($12.00) and programs (1.00) at the concessions and in the t-shirt stand as well.
There is a meet entry fee of $65.00 per boys and $65.00 per girls’ teams. Make checks payable to King’s High School Track and Field. Payment Invoice is located at the bottom of this page, if you need one to be on a King’s header page please email me. There will be an admission charge of $4.00 at the gate for spectators. Coaches can come to the shed during the meet for food and refreshments, doughnuts, coffee, and juice in the a.m. and Sub sandwich’s and water in the later afternoon (this is for coaches only).
