As a Distance example, a boys’ team would add together their best boys 3 X 1600m Relay time and their boys’ 4 X 800m Relay time in order to get their overall time. Ties will be broken by the places in the 3 X 1600m Relay.
As a Sprints example, a girls’ team would add together their girls’ 300m Hurdle time, their best girls’ 100m time, their best girls’ 400m time, their girls’ 4 X 100m Relay time, their girls’ Sprint Medley Relay time, their girls’ 100m Hurdle time, and their girls’ 4 X 400m Relay time in order to get their overall time. Ties will be broken by the places in the Sprint Medley Relay.

As a Jumps example, a boys’ team would add together their two best boys’ High Jump heights, their two best boys’ Long Jump distances, their two best boys’ Triple Jump distances, and their two best boys’ Pole Vault heights in order to get their overall distance. Ties will be broken by the places in the Pole Vault.
