In 1971 Burt Williams started an invitational exclusively for small school competition. It was known as the Central Valley Invitational. Over the years this invitational has grown to include all schools in and around Northern California, and has now become the John Frank Invitational.
In tradition with having a competitive meet exclusively for small schools, the Burt Williams Classic was formed to bring together the talents of athletes from smaller schools in a championship format. It is also to honor a man who has been a large part of Track and Field in the north state for over 40 years.
You are invited to the 6th annual BW Classic on Saturday, March 27, 2010. The meet will be held at Central Valley High School in Shasta Lake CA, on their all weather facility, including pole vaulting. I hope your team can be part of this meet to help make it successfully competition.
