Attendance Policy

1. Athletes must attend practice everyday to participate in meets

·        Dr. Appointments, Dental Appointments, tests, sectional rehearsals are some of examples of excused absences.

·        Athlete must talk to coach ahead of time (communication is key)

·        Please come and talk to me if you have any questions

1. If an athlete accumulates 2 unexcused absences they will not be allowed to compete at the next meet.
2. If an athlete accumulates 4 unexcused absences the athlete will be asked to turn in their uniform and not be allowed to compete in any meet for the rest of the year.

Lettering Policy

West Salem Track and Field

To earn your letter at West Salem High School in Track and Field you must acquire a total of 16 points by:

• Competing at the Varsity level in dual meets  (1pt per event)

-or as a JV competitor you beat the # 2 varsity opponents mark

• Scoring points in Varsity dual meets (relay points are divided 4 ways)

1^st = 5pts

2^nd = 3pts

3^rd = 1pt

• perfect attendance at both practice and meets (1pt)

• Break school record in an event   (1pt)

• Help with other meets like the Walker meets  (1pt)

• Grades at the last 6 weeks grading period before the end of the season

4.0 = 3pts

3.5 = 2pts

3.0 = 1pt

• Compete at District meet (5pts)

Automatic Letters

• Make the district meet final
• Senior in the program two years
• Special circumstances that the coaching staff decides

You must stay for the team meeting at the end of the meet to receive your points!!!!!

You must finish the year in good standing to earn your letter.
