Michigan Catholic Invitational Meet Instructions

 

Safety Protocols

When coaches pick up their number packet, they will be asked to do the following:

• Verify that all athletes have completed a MHSAA Sports Health Questionnaire.

• Verify that all athletes had their temperature checked prior to arrival and all are below 100.3.
• Verify that all athletes have been informed of all course meet rules and protocols.
• Complete Pregame Safe Competition Agreement.

 

All athletes and coaches must wear masks at all times except during races.

All athletes must wear their uniform with a visible number at all times.

Athletes are only permitted in the warm-up area and their designated team camp area when not racing.

Athletes who violate these rules will be disqualified and risk forfeiting team and individual awards of the entire team.

Coaches must wear clothing visibly identifying their school.

The designated warm-up area is the only place on the retreat grounds athletes will be allowed to warm-up. Athletes are asked to run clockwise on the loop, try and stay together as a group and not mix with other groups.  There are segments in the warm-up area that teams can use for stretching and drills.  Please emphasize to your teams that this is the only area allowed for warm-up. Athletes must wear masks and have their uniform and numbers visible when in the warm-up area.

Teams are responsible for bringing their own water.

 

Team Arrival

Busses will unload at the retreat entrance near the course and the warm-up area. Team should be prepared to unload athletes, and tents and equipment quickly.

Coaches will be given a number-packet and distribute numbers to all team members before entering the course.

Number packets will also give have team their designated team camp location and race box number. It is imperative that teams use their assigned camp areas and box numbers. In the unlikely event that any contact tracing is necessary, following these protocols will be very useful in verifying if any of your team was exposed.

Individuals arriving by car should tell the person at the front gate they are a runner and then be met by a team representative at the table and escorted to the team camp. Individuals are responsible for contacting their team representative. Personnel at the table will not be able to page or call team reps.

Busses can park in the paved parking lot at the end of the drive.

 

 

Starting and Finishing Protocols

Each team must have a designated team representative or representatives for each race. The team representative must accompany all runners to the starting line and then must report to the finish area.

Once in finish area the representatives will be given instructions of how to gather each runner after the race and escort them back to the team camp area.

Team representatives must have clothing identifying their school and wear a mask.

Each team will be allowed 2 coaches or representatives on the course. These representatives must have team identifying clothing and masks. The primary reason they are allowed on the course is for your runner’s safety. Please be sure that your runners complete the race safely and are attended to should they need assistance. 

This is not a pass for you to allow runners on the course. Please be sure these are responsible adults. 

Two-mile racers times will be recorded by a team representative at the two-mile mark on the course. These times then need to be reported to the scoring/awards table to be scored. The runners running the two-mile will then need to return to their team camp area.

Two-mile racers will start with their school in the reserve race. THERE IS NO SEPARATE TWO-MILE RACE.

 

Reserve Races

There will be two reserve races per gender. The races will start exactly one minute apart. Runners in each race will be grouped as a whole team with a multiple teams in each race and no race exceeding 70 runners.  Runners that are in race 2 will have a listed time 1 minute longer than their actual time. These times will be adjusted by the scorer/awards table to ensure the correct runners get medals. Times will be left unofficial in Athletic.net so that coaches can make appropriate changes later.

Coaches Shirts, Breakfast and Lunches

Coaches shirts and lunches can be picked up in the white tent at the top of the hill starting at 10 am.  There will also be coffee and donuts available in the morning. There will be tables available for coaches to eat at or socialize.

Prerace Prayer

Since we are unable to host a mass or awards presentation there will be a short prayer and blessing before both the boys and girl’s sessions. Hopefully next year we are back to celebrating mass and awards together.

Awards

Team and individual awards can be picked up at our scorers/awards table which will be on the main stage near the finish line. When team standings will be announced as soon as they are available. All awards can be picked up together by a coach. Announcements will be made when those are available.  Team possessing the Bishop’s Cup from last year should drop it off at the awards table when they arrive. PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO PICK UP YOUR AWRDS BEFORE LEAVING SO THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE TO BE MAILED.

 

Parking/Spectators

Parking is $5.00 per car.

If dropping off a runner please drop them at the from entrance and a team representative must meet the runner at the entrance table and accompany them to the team camp.

Once a car is parked, the occupants cannot leave the parking area and are expected to wear masks when outside of cars. Spectators must practice social distancing. The course passes the parking area twice during the race.

Spectators: Do not exit the parking area to go onto the course. Anyone doing so will be asked to leave the grounds and could jeopardize their team’s results.

There will be porta-johns within the parking area.

8:30 - Boys 2-mile and 5k reserve race - wave 1

8:31 - Boys 2-mile and 5k reserve race - wave 2

9:00 - Boys St. Sebastian 5k

9:30 - Boys Bishop Cup 5k 

10:15 - Girls 2-mile and reserve 5K race - wave 1

10:16 - Girls 2-mile and reserve 5K race - wave 2

10:45 - Girls St. Sebastian 5k

11:25 - Girls Bishop Cup 5k

 

Awards

2-mile and 5k reserve - Top 10 per gender in the 2-mile and the reserve division will receive medals.

St. Sebastion 5k - Top 20 runners per gender will receive medals, top 10 per gender will receive "top 10" shirts, top 3 teams will receive plaques. 

Bishop's Cup 5k - Top 20 runners per gender will receive medals, top 10 per gender will receive "top 10" shirts, Winning team will receive Bishop's Cup, highest placing D1-2 team will receive K of C award, top placing D 3-4 team will receive St. Francis Award.

 

Entry Limits

2-mile and reserve race - unlimited per team. Number of entries will determine format of the race/races.

St. Sebastian 5k - 5 runners per team

Bishops Cup 5k - 5 runners per team

 

Both thse St. Sebastian and the Bishop Cup races have identical individual award structure and recognize three teams. Both races will be very competitive. It is at the discretion of each coach how to eneter their athletes in the two races. These are not varsity and JV races. Some teams may choose to split their top runners between the races or run their strongest group in either one of the two.
