2006 1A/2A District III Cross Country Meet

Wednesday October 18, 2005

Scotch Pines Golf Course

Payette, Idaho

4:00 pm

Hosted by New Plymouth & Idaho City

Welcome! The District meet is at Scotch Pines Golf Course in Payette for the third year in a row. The golf course has graciously allowed us to come back to use their facility. We will be running approximately the same course we used last year. They invite parents of the runners to come early and put in a round of golf before the race.

Schedule

Course opens for inspection 2:00 pm

3:30 – JV boys & girls

Varsity races following, girls first.

Awards after the Varsity races.

Course

The course is a 2-loop 5K course on the first 9 holes of the golf course. It has a lot of small hills. We start in the middle of the first hole and proceed through the holes in order. After the first loop, we come around behind the start line and repeat the course. The finish line is between holes #1 and #9. We will mark the course with flags, cones, and arrows on stakes. We plan to have volunteers at critical points along the course to point the way.

Scoring

Each runner will have a tag before the race. Print name/grade/school on the tag and pin to front of uniform. Afterward, the results will be scored like a normal race, with runners from incomplete teams removed from the team scoring.

Runner Care

We will have port-a-potties on site for runner & spectator use. Please instruct everyone stay out of the club house. We will provide water for the runners. We ask spectators to bring their own drinks. We will have golf carts at the front and rear of each race to lead the way and to pick up any injured runners.

Miscellaneous

·   We will visually record the finish of the Varsity races in case of discrepancies in the finish results

·   Awards: Varsity: Medals for top 3 individuals, medals for top two tams (gold & silver), Championship plaque for winning team. JV awards will also be presented.

·   We are told to stay off the greens as too many of us walking on that short grass will damage it.

·   Buses can park along the fence on the far side of the driveway up to the club house.

·   The starting line is near the golf course driving range. The driving range is often in use during our meets, so please stay out of it to avoid injury. DO NOT PICK UP ANY STRAY GOLF BALLS.
