SCC West Championships

Southern Connecticut Conference West coaches and their teams are invited to compete in the 2020 SCC Indoor Track and Field West Sectional meet.

  • Tuesday, January 28, 2020- 4:00pm Start
    West Sectionals: 
    Branford, Career Magnet, East Haven, North Haven, Wilbur Cross
    Fairfield Prep, Hamden, Lauralton Hall, Mercy, Notre Dame-West Haven, Sacred Heart Academy, West Haven, Xavier

Facility:

  • The meet will be held at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven, CT.

  • Athletes may only use pyramid spikes = 3/16th of an inch. No Needle spikes allowed

Event Entry Rules:

Any athlete who competes in three (3) events at any of the Sectional meets cannot enter any other event at the SCC Championship meet.

  • A coach may not scratch an athlete and assign that athlete to a relay if he/she ran three (3) events (even if he/she did not qualify to advance in one) in the sectional meet and is also listed as an alternate on a relay.

  • Athletes who are listed as alternates, may run only if they ran two (2) events or less at the sectional meet. They too are limited to three (3) events.

  • Sectional meets and the SCC Championship for purposes of understanding are really one meet. Advancing to the SCC Championship is predicated on performance at the Sectional meet. No athlete who competes in three (3) events at a Sectional meet may change to an event in the SCC Championship.

Event Entry Procedures:

  • Any contestant in the tournament may not be entered in more than three (3) events excluding relays. A competitor shall not compete in more than three (3) events including relays. A contestant becomes a competitor when he/she reports to the clerk of course.

  • For all relays, coaches must enter their Athletic.net event entry for the most probable 8 (eight) athletes. On meet day, changes are allowed to the relay entries including substitution of existing athletes as well as original order.

  • Relay teams report with signed relay cards when called to the clerk of course. Any coach who changes a contestant on a relay for the SCC Championship must report to the clerk of course to attest to the alternate runner's eligibility.

  • Any athlete entered in their Athletic.net event entry in more than 3 individual events will be automatically dropped from additional individual events based on the posted order of events.

  • There are no limitations on how many athletes from each school can be entered in individual events.

  • Only one (1) relay per event per school.

  • Seed marks only accepted from official meet results.

  • Seed Mark overrides are not permitted in Athletic.net for this meet.

Registration

  • Coaches are required to complete their Athletic.net entries by 6:00 pm on January 26, 2020.

Meet Rules:

Coaches, please pay special attention to the following:

  • The SCC Track and Field by-laws will govern the meet.

  • The meet is open to all high school age athletes in grades 9-12competing for their Southern Connecticut Conference high school team.

  • Coaches must bring their pole vault weight verification forms. If your vaulter's poles have not been certified, they will not compete.

  • Implement Check: All implements must be checked in by an inspector prior to use in the meet. Violators will be disqualified for using implements that have not passed meet inspection.

  • Coaches and athletes will be asked to stay away from the finish line as there will be FAT system in use.

Doctor/Trainer:

  • An Athletic Trainer is on site during meet.

Miscellaneous:

  • General admission will be $5.00 adults and $3.00 for students 18 years and younger.

  • Food, drinks, candy will be available. Meet T- shirts will be sold.

East and West Indoor Track and Field Sectionals

Track Events:

(Order is Boys then Girls unless noted otherwise)

  • 4x200m Relay

  • 4x800m Relay

  • 55m Hurdles – Trials

  • 55m Dash – Trials

  • 1000m Run

  • 600m Run

  • 55m Hurdles – Finals (Girls then Boys)

  • 55m Dash – Finals (Girls then Boys)

  • 1600m Run

  • 1600m Sprint Medley (1-1-2-4 laps) (3-turn stagger)

  • 300m Dash

  • 3200m Run

  • 4x400 Relay

Field Events:

Pole vault, shot put, long jump and high jump will be started concurrently with running events. The order is as follows:

  • High Jump (Boys then Girls) Five alive protocol

  • Long Jump (Girls then Boys)

  • Shot Put (Boys then girls)

  • Pole Vault (Boys then Girls) Five alive protocol
