RACING GROUPS AND DIVISIONS: To achieve the fewest races, we stratified the race groups across enrollments sizes, but results will be compiled across 3 race divisions: Large School, Medium School and Small School, based on enrollments. Your race in a group and get results by division. TO REGISTER YOUR ATHLETES IN ATHLETIC.NET, LOOK FOR THE RACE WITH YOUR GROUP LETTER AND THE LETTER NEXT TO YOUR SCHOOL NAME BELOW (for example, Petoskey is in GROUP A VARSITY BOYS TCW/TCC/P) :

Excellence Discount: Cost for teams that finished in top 10 previous year:
                        $50 per high school

If you have less than 10 rostered runners, we will charge $5 per athlete.

AWARDS:     Trophies to the top 2 teams in each division.
                        Top 15 in each varsity division will receive medals.
                        Top 30 overall in combined JV Results (all schools) receive medals.

                        Top 10 in each Middle School race gets medals. Ribbons for ALL!!!

REGISTRATION: Registration will be on athletic.net.

CHECK IN: Coaches check in will be at the tent at the entrance to the course. Please temperature check your athletes using the MHSAA log and provide the log to the volunteers at check in.

 

TEAM CAMPS: Will be disbursed around campus and at parks around the city of Petoskey. Bathrooms and/or port-a-johns will be available at each site. Larger teams should expect to be off site and will need to ferry athletes on and off campus.

 

SPECTATORS: Each team will be allowed 2 passes per rostered athlete in each race for spectators. Passes will be emailed to coaches. IF your school hands out too many passes, we will be tracking spectators by school. We may be temperature checking spectators. Once you are UP TO your limit for a race, we will turn the rest away. All spectators must wear masks at all times. Cost is $5.00. The course will be cleared between races. Spectators will be moved from the start area to the finish area and then off the course. Spectators will be given a color pass for each race they provide a ticket to and will need to return the pass after the race. Spectators should immediately return to their vehicles and leave campus. If providing transport to an athlete, they can park in an out lot and return when the athlete is ready to depart. Spectators may arrive 15 minutes before their athlete’s race.

 

THERE ARE LIMITED SPECTATORS. IF you have 10 athletes in the race, you only get 20 spectators for that race. We will turn away anyone beyond your quota. IF YOUR TEAM HAS SPECTATORS ON THE COURSE WITHOUT A SESSION PASS ALL YOUR TEAMS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED AND REMOVED FROM THE COMPETITION. NO AWARDS GIVEN TO YOUR SCHOOL.                 

 

USHERING: We will ask for coaches to assist in getting their spectators off the course.

 

ONLY THE FIRST TWO RACES WILL BE ALLOWED TO INSPECT THE COURSE.  Check in as a team with the starter and he will release you to the course so we do not get bunched up. IF walking, stay on the right half of the trail and have a mask on. If running, stay to the left and yell "TRACK" to inform other athletes you intend to pass. Please pass in a single file. COURSE MARKINGS: The course is marked utilizing Green signs for our 5k course and black sings for our 2 mile course. The arrows and letters on the sign utilize traditional directional colors for cross country:

                                                RED: Left
                                                YELLOW: Right
 

STARTING LINE: Athletes should report to the starting line 15 minutes before their race. They are allowed at the start a half hour before their raceWhen running in the race or warming up, you will not need a mask on. Once you arrive at the starting line, please have a mask if you are not moving. The starter will ask you to remove it shortly before the beginning of the race.  We will have lanes going out 100 Meters for each team. Please stay in your lane.

 

FINISH LINE: At the finish, your athletes will find a marked corridor/trail that will lead them out of the race area. There will be a bottle of water available. They can go directly to your bus/camp to cool down. Off site teams can have their vehicles being used to ferry their kids in the Middle School bus loop. Athletes will not be allowed to return to the course after their race as a spectator, unless they have a pass for that race. Athletes will not be charged but must have their number on and have a spectator pass. Athletes must wear a mask at all times while a spectator on the course.

 

TIMING: We will be using a Finish Lynx FAT electronic timing system.
